Clare Virginia Eby, who teaches at the University of Connecticut, is author of Dreiser and Veblen, Saboteurs of the Status Quo and many articles on American literature and culture in the early twentieth century. She is working on the Pennsylvania edition of Dreiser's The 'Genius.'

Donald Pizer, Pierce Butler Professor of English at Tulane University, is the author of The Novels of Theodore Dreiser: A Critical Study. He has also edited a number of works by and about Dreiser, including Theodore Dreiser: A Selection of Uncollected Prose (1977).

Thomas P. Riggio is Professor of English at the University of Connecticut and the General Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Edition of the Works of Theodore Dreiser.

James L. W. West III is Edwin Earle Sparks Professor of English at Pennsylvania State University. He was Textual Editor of the Pennsylvania Edition of Sister Carrie and is currently General Editor of the Cambridge Edition of the Works of F. Scott Fitzgerald. His most recent book is William Styron, A Life (1998).
