Text above image: "Dimensions of the Lecture room & Laboratory 60 feet square -- adjoining offices 35 by 25 ft." This engraving is a revised version of that issued with the first edition (1827), containing additional apparatus located above the demonstration table. The apparatus is probably Hare's "Large Electrical Plate Machine," described in this edition by Hare as "a machine, constructed so as to be permanently affixed to the canopy over the hearth of my lecture room"("Of Mechanical Electricity," 6). |
